LDL of 205 caught Dave by surprised thinking it should be about 240. Took a few more tests and "thankfully" (in Dave world) it went up. :-)

Is high LDL dangerous? ACA - Yes. Dave - Maybe not.

Modern Lipid Hypothesis - LDL leads to atherosclerosis. Dave adds some accelerant to make it more atherosclerosis.

You definitely need to see these slides. I'll do my best.

Experts say you need statins if high LDL.

Alt hypothesis - damage happens first & then atherosclerosis. @DaveKeto - do I understand that right?

Looking at ACM - Fatal can be CVD and Non-CVD. No study for everything that could ever happen, so all cause non-mortality not something to look at.

What is lowering LDL causes more problems for non-CVD?

Out of 29 studies only 2 showed a difference in ACM.

Lower ACM with increase of LDL.

Japanese study LDL inc shows reduction in ACM.

Gene studies SNP's may have confounders due to changes in lipid uptake metabolism.

Still has his LC Chol challenge going.

Vldl's seem to have a higher connection to CVD. Cool slide with apolipoproteins.

Editing can influence the outcome of a paper. Would like a different system closer to open source engineering with public being able to see raw data.

Some changes then made to group by age. Age is a risk factor for death. :-)

Also disparity in FU time.

Then over 50 found parity so that data shows lower ACM with inc in LDL.

Confidence intervals added. Then looked again. Now it looks better!

LDL>160 HDL>50 TG<100, No statin 647 alive, 96 died. 3 101 or older. Average heart attack death 84.5.

- Statin use may mean folks possibly have other issues as well, but wants to look at data w/o statins.

- Wants study design & hypothesis locked down before studies done & then rawdata publicly available.
- Small dense particles could be in atherogenic lipidemia, but could reflect other things. 2 week turnover of SDLDL could be other injury & atherosclerosis could be containment.

- ACM positive change should be goal of therapy
- Uses Cardiocheck
- Hypothesis needs to be understood and the question needs to be relevant.
