Day 3 #LowCarbSeattle . Craig Emmerich is up first. His talk will be on "Oxidative Priority and Results of Over 15 Years of Keto Diets"

@LowCarbUSA @LCPamDevine @DougieReynolds
Craig & his wife @MariaEmmerich have been doing this for quite a while. If you haven't seen Maria's cookbooks, you really should check them out.
@MariaEmmerich Oxidative priority is how your body processes fuel. Alcohol, exogenous ketones, carb, fat is the priority list first to last.

Alcohol is first because there is zero storage capacity in the body.

Exogenous Ketones are 2nd. Storage little to none. Not needed
@MariaEmmerich 3rd is Carbs - can store 1200-200 calories of carbs, not needed. Biggest use of insulin

Protein is 4th. 360-400 calories of storage capacit. Good thermogenesis (25%) We need this.

Fat is 5th - possibly unlimited storage. We need this.
@MariaEmmerich Keto is helpful to understand these priorities. Understanding how to adjust these catagories helps us with weight loss. The more fat we eat, they less we use from our own storage. (@TedNaiman says this too!)

Don't do butter coffee, eat equivalent amt steak for the nutrition.
@MariaEmmerich @tednaiman Cool slide on butter coffee vs whole foods. Beef is King. @KenDBerryMD hollered "Eat your meat!" to much laughter.

Nutrient density is good for health and weight loss.

Protein Sparing Modified Fast PSMF (low fat carnivore) = inc weight loss, breaks stalls.
The Emmerichs have a PSMF cookbook!

Slide on nutrient density.

Superfoods don't compare to Beef. Beef liver is good - Maria hides it in some of her recipes if you want tips to get it into your diet.

This about weight loss - you can do a lot for your health with this diet.
Cool slide on results of weight loss and health improvements of people who have read their books and followed their advice. Amazing cases.

T2D - incredible results for the cases he is reporting.

EcZema & Skin - case of a lady who had amazing improvement of her condition.
IBS, Acid Reflux, Chron's Colitis - case studies of people who significantly improved their conditions.

MS, Grave's, Parkinson's - N=1 reported cases of improvement even in these conditions.

Alheimer's, Moods, ADHD, & Autism - more n=1 cases showing improvements.
Fibro, Lyme, Chronic Pain - Craig was dx with Lyme. He said he's heard of cases of people who went Keto and it helped. He went closer to Carnivore and found that helped even more. Mentioned plants have anti-nutrients. Some first carnivore's were because of lyme.
Talking of n=1 with Kidney disease showing improvements.

Also showing folks who were able to get off their medications by going Keto.

Their adopted sons were 2% of the height/growth chart when they first joined them. They were 50% within a year, and 75% in 2 years.
Tech gremlins are back. Slides not advancing.

Back in business.

End.

Q&A
- Priority of metabolism - when needing extra body weight (for hiking) add more dietary fat.
- Eczema on Keto better than Paleo may be b/c plants have antI-nutrients. Carnovire great elimination diet.
- Q do we have micronutrients we can use before we need to eat beef liver? :-) A - cells always turning over, need a constant supply of nutrients.
- Fructose may have a different oxidative priority to other carbs, not clear
- Ox priority for different lipids? May be, not sure.
- Calcium not high in beef, but sardines or ground eggshells would help. K2 helps calcium get where it needs to go be.
- PSMF - try 1 or 2 days a week.
