1/So I do think the whole "Dem Party swing hard left" thing was always exaggerated. It isn't false. AOC and her allies matter, and are a force. But was not what happened in 2018; and so far isn't what 2020 is abt either.
2/Bernie wing had very few victories anywhere in the country. Think this translates in 7 wins in 79 races. In the House races DCCC/establishment candidates won almost every primary with a few exceptions.
3/Of the 59 House Dem freshman 40 joined the New Democrat Coalition, and the NDC is now over 100 Members for the first time since it was formed in late 1996. businessinsider.com/democrat-house…
4/As I discuss in this @ThePlumLineGS piece, I think many Democrats are responding to the danger they feel from Trump's Presidency by looking for leaders of achievement and courage, not necessarily ideological ambition. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/… Serious people for serious times.
5/And finally, if you are worried about America following Maduro's path you should be far more fearful of the GOP than the Democrats. Trump is more like Maduro than any other leader in the Western world. medium.com/@cktaylor55/tr…

This is about Michigan and Ohio not the Dow.
2/Trump is much closer to losing the 2020 election than conventional wisdom holds. Trump/Rs got crushed in the Rustbelt in 2018, and his numbers there remain really bad today. If he loses any more ground in PA/MI/WI 2020 will be bleak for him.
3/New PA poll has Trump down 11 pts to Biden. 11. This is why WH is delaying European tariffs, trying to get a deal done w/Mexico and Canada. Huge effort to minimize econ, political damage from the China tariffs. Trump w/Jimmy Carter like numbers now.

In this article, Pelosi did not say that the Democratic party needed to be more "centrist." She said they need to "own the center left." The distinction between "centrist" and "center left" is not meaningless. nytimes.com/2019/05/04/us/…
And it’s entirely reasonable to argue the party as a whole, not individual politicians, should hold the center-left. . . . .
Why? Because that’s where the majority of Democratic voters reside. It also represents a compromise between the relatively more left and relatively more “centrist” voters, each bloc of which is probably in the minority. Pelosi has expressed this same idea elsewhere.

One reason media won't give up on "Russia collusion": it's the lifeblood of the NeverTrump grifters, who claim Trump's presidency is illegitimate and "true conservatives" need to vote Democrat and usher in socialism to "correct" it. DNC wants NeverTrump alive and well for 2020.
NeverTrump is more important to the Democrat strategy than ever after the Mueller report. The new narrative is "okay, Russia collusion was a bust but Trump is still illegitimate somehow." The media desperately needs "longtime Republicans" pushing that narrative right now.
More importantly, Democrats need to convince the middle class their party isn't stuffed with socialist loons who will trash the economy and drive America mad with social engineering if they win in 2020. That's becoming a very tough narrative to sell.

I don't have any pretensions that this is gospel truth but here are a few things I thought are worth keeping in mind especially if you're struggling with limited time (h/t primary caretakers of small children)
The one thing I always forget: balls will be dropped. By which I mean, you cannot hope to do all the things. And this is fine. By far the most important thing I learnt is to forgive myself for not being superwoman
A couple tricks: DO THE WRITING FIRST
If you're a perfectionist like me there's a tendency to want to get rid of the chores first and do the writing when your plate is clear. Guess what? The plate will never be clear.
