Thread: I've recently realised that joining the Labour party has pacified me. I have often set issues aside to focus on short term political battles. The Labour party has ducked too many issues. I think it's wrong. I'm not going to do it any more.
Labour has bottled it on economic policy. The idea that a government with it's own currency has to 'balance the books' is infantile Thatcherite nonsense. Labour should be arguing for grown up economic policies.
Labour has bottled it on immigration. Immigration and immigrants are an overwhelmingly positive force in British society and we should proclaim it proudly.
Labour has bottled it on the unions. Let me finish! We need to scrap trident, scrap any plans for a third run way at Heathrow and build an economy based on renewable energy and high skill jobs.
Labour has bottled it on foreign policy. Particularly Corbyn. He has been on the right side of history every time. It's long past due for him to come out proudly in support of all the work he has done for peace and justice around the world over the last 30 years.
Labour has bottled it on itself. We need to listen to the Jewish communities and be careful about the language we use but there has been no increase in antisemitism in the Labour Party under Corbyn and no leader has done more to combat it.
Labour has bottled it on class. We need to start talking about class again. Particularly that the Labour party IS THE ONLY party in the UK that represents working class people. The rich have been grabbing a bigger and bigger share for decades. Sorry, we're taking some back.
And Tony Blair should be in the Hague not on the sofa of talk shows.
