This seems pretty far-fetched. Hate crimes and discrimination are defined in law and adoption wouldn't change that
For example, the govt has 'adopted' the IHRA definition of antisemitism. This has had no impact on discrimination law. I know this because I searched for references in court judgments to the definition and found none.

That's because the Equality Act 2010 defines discrimination
If there is a concern re police and/or CPS adopting a definition of Islamophobia and using it to inform their work preventing hate crimes, again the legal definition of a hate crime would be unaffected. There is no call as far as I know to include Islamophobia in hate crimes laws

This is the process the govt has outlined for reaching a definition of Islamophobia.

Basically a complete rejection of @APPGBritMuslims definition including using the paradigm of racism

@APPGBritMuslims This seems a very strictly controlled remit, as @miqdaad says. Difficult to see how a acceptable definition can be arrived that with these preconditions. Acceptance from the Muslim communities essential
One interesting thing, and I think this is a positive development, is the government seem to accept that Islamophobia is the correct term to define. So they appear (although who knows?) not to except the critique of the word itself

One suggestion to the Conservative Party - rather than rejecting the @APPGBritMuslims careful and well-researched work on Islamophobia outright and attempting to appoint its own ‘experts’, why not work with them, explain concerns and see if their work can be built on?
It’s heartening to to see our equalities and human rights regulator addressing public concerns and taking (given the govt controls it’s funding) political risks

It’s an important story that shows Facebook’s hostility to journalism about Facebook.

First, it’s essential that journalists and researchers be able to study Facebook’s platform, so that we can all answer some basic questions: Is Facebook distorting public discourse? Is it deepening our social divisions? Is it being highjacked to manipulate our elections? /2
