THREAD: gonna be real clear. Do not start a service to help someone w/logistics in getting an abortion simply because you are passionate about helping. It’s dangerous. THINGS TO KNOW: FIRST- there already are organizations that do this.
like @MidwestAccess @FundMSabortions and Haven coalition among them. These are networks that have been developed with experts and you should use your enthusiasm and money to support and help them grow.THIS IS SERIOUS.
I have done this work for YEARS and raise money to help them and amplify them BUT stay in my lane BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THEIR EXPERTISE.
There are logistical and safety issues and legalities and nuances that these orgs have developed. PLEASE understand this.
Please #AuntieNetwork or whatever you are calling yourselves. I understand you are well meaning but you do not know all that goes into safely assisting a person to get them to their abortion and give your time and resources to working with @AbortionFunds and the others I listed

My dad started the car and told me to turn it off after a few minutes just before he set off on his trip. After a few minutes I went outside and turned off the car like he instructed. I locked the doors then I packed my clothes from the rope and took them upstairs

The next morning I wanted to warm the car again like he instructed but I couldn't find the key. I told my mom, we looked all over for it to no avail. We also had a journey to embark on so we just left when we couldn't find it. 2 days later, we came back and continued the search..

I saw a lot of you talking about this on the TL yesterday. Will be doing a #thread shortly on the psychological aspects of 'Stress interviews'
The first thing that came to mind when I read this were the two interviews I've given for my PhD. Both times I came out feeling completely undeserving of doing one, and I cleared both.
Both panels had nothing good to say about the proposal I had submitted and no one acknowledged that I had worked five years in the field, doing a six day, 70 hour week for most part and still managed to turn in an application and clear an entrance exam

Like Aristotle once argued, knowledge can be an end in itself and can provide joy in itself. Developed nations get that. Libraries are not wasted spaces. They exist to both delight and train minds. Museums, galleries and parks are not optional. People fight to preserve them.
When things break down in those countries, the default response is to repair them. Things work because they should work, not because there is always a financial reward. The people have embraced a value system that makes it so.
