Spot. On. From @davidallengreen

Maybe @the3million could start a fundraiser for v.fast top level legal advice on this?

Could @JolyonMaugham @GeorgePeretzQC advise which specialist firm of solicitors/direct access barrister might be able to help out super-quick
This from @schroedinger99 points out that the extra step of completing an additional form seems odd, given, he says, they are never checked.

I can say that a Polish acquaintance with v.decent spoken English but more limited written English struggled.

It is possible that Legally Priviledged and the journalist identified here might have some examples.

I know Southwark council admitted a cock up and sent them out postal votes v late.

This at Plymouth today. Italians being sent away having turned up with orange cards.

Here is an example. It has been suggested that anyone in this position should contact their MPs office urgently and keep records.

Another still. Postal votes to France travelled via Holland, arriving too late.

@thatginamiller @remainunited is taking an interest so make sure you add your stories here @the3million @nickynoo007 so we can keep information together.

A series of people have been identified by the @BBCNews who have been adversely affected .

Another example here, not of postal vote but poor information for registration.

Here is another account of someone who has not received their postal vote.

And another who did not realise the need for two tier registration...and also told she did not need a polling card.

Another. Remember. These are stories being collected on Twitter.

What about the other 75% of the country?

Another who knew nothing of the two stage registration process.

We had to get our local council to alter the information on its website to make the process clear a few weeks ago.

I wonder how many didn’t?

Look at this one.

Postal vote. Looks as if it went out on 8th May. Arrived polling day 23rd May.

This one. Someone living in Spain only got her postal papers last Friday.

Has completed and posted as tracked mail straight away. Still no proof that it has been delivered.

She says 2 people in her village say they have received no papers.

Another who did not know of the 2 part registration.

No information given.

Advice from an expert. Anyone following this make sure you let every single person telling such a story of being turned away that this is what they should do.

This is how you can set up AN EMERGENCY PROXY VOTE

Before 5pm today.

But see also Simon Cox’s advice above if you can go in and vote about correcting the register until 9pm tonight.

More accounts in here of failures in comms.

Failures to correct.

Failures to implement Electoral Commission recommendations.

They keep coming in. “Vote in “your own” country.

Really?!!!

People should not have to work so hard to exercise their entitlement to vote.

6 times!

Another one.

Bexley this time. They can register online and if they have been given wrong advice every effort should be made to correct.

More. Yet more!

This is just one person collecting random stories on twitter for a few hours.

Awaiting information about the alleged non compliance.

Hoping this one might get the registration done, but comms problems again.

Another one caught in a backlog of stamping forms received problems.

All these cuts to local Government plus late notification by Govt seem to be exacerbating the problems.

Can’t believe how long this has got in less than a day.

Whilst the U.K. can certainly set deadlines for registration it also has a legal deputy to provide timely and clear information about steps necessary TO register.

From @SimonFRCox

Mike Stuchberry’s wife.

Who mistakenly thinks there is no duty to provide timely and adequate information to enable registration.

From the Electoral commission if you had problems with your postal vote.

And advice on what to do from the Electoral Commission

Advice from the @the3million

Download.

Follow the instructions.

Complain enmasse!
At least 3 councils admit they were unable to get postal votes on time, already underpressure with the #LE19.

More still. This is just appalling. How many people have been denied a vote?

Look at this one. She was denied but stood her ground.

She had to demand they looked for a second list for foreigners. There she was on it and was able to vote.

More. So many reporting their names crossed off a list.

Others standing their ground determinedly until the “foreigners” list is found and they are transferred to the voting list.

I never thought I would see this here.

Look as this Select Committee Report on Voter disengagement right back to 2014.

And a whole load plus a timeline by Paquet in Politics Means Politics.

So ashamed of my country, this cannot be a,lowes to go unaddressed.

A French National, living in the U.K. for 7 yrs.
Aways able to vote

Completed the 2nd registration form by 30th April & returned it. Deadline 7th May. Turned away from polling station #DeniedMyRight to vote.
She suggests that 75% of EU citizens denied.

Further up the thread I posted excerpts from a Select Committee Report on problems with voter disengagement and disenfranchisement dating back to 2014.

Today this dropped into my feed.
