This is the day I put the season finale pages down and back out to the outline and track the emotional payoffs of the season-long themes LONGHAND. It’s as if I need the physicality of the pen to break the “typing” mindset of plotting and dialogue and scenework.
I don’t know how other writers do it, but I need to keep hopping up and down the scale as dialogue reveals a character moment and then I pop high to see how to bring it in tune to what we’re doing emotionally. And if it’s all of a piece, converging.
25 years in you’d think this would be easier, or standardized. But it’s a pain in the ass every time.

It’s also, weirdly, one of my favorite moments in the whole season.

I'll keep saying it: The Electoral College was not designed to to do what you think it does, It does not do what it was designed to do, and it does not do what you think it does.
The "it preserves the power of small states" argument does not work. The "you'd only need to win four big states" argument does not work. The "it was designed to winnow out unfit candidates" argument does not work.
The only argument is "white people in rural areas should have their vote over-weighed for ... reasons" with the "reasons" varying depending on who's writing the book/essay.

The ability to say “I don’t get it but I understand how somebody else likes it, and there’s nothing wrong with that” is a sign of maturity. “How can you possibly like that?” - he calls people who don’t enjoy what he enjoys “sick” downthread - is why we have the rural/urban divide
Not the only reason, the primary one is economic. But people living in isolated, homogenous bubbles who then project that as SUPERIOR to living, say, in the place that subsidizes your isolated, homogenous bubble is destructive. And then the resentment goes the other way.
I was very lucky as a standup to travel to very isolated communities, and both realize “I could never live here” and drink with people who spoke very passionately about living there.

I also ran into some real fuckwits, so salt to taste.

The pages appear to have fallen into a gray area for Facebook.

Did I ever tell you guys how bad I was at Red Dead Redemption because, my god, I was bad at Red Dead Redemption. I basically snowballed into having a nearly $2000 bounty on my head and couldn't go a half hour w/o a posse chasing me
I am not to be trusted in open world games. Pls believe me when I say I didn't intend to be a douchebag I just kinda kept...blundering into mistake after mistake ranging from "hey what happens if i shoot the oil lamp outside the general store" to "you've killed how many horses??"
I accidentally shot my horse in the head when hunting & a deer ran in front of me, i got attacked by a cougar, a guy stole my horse & I shot my horse before I shot him, I fell off a cliff, I fell off a cliff AGAIN while running from a posse cause I didn't swing my camera around

The first time Taehyung goes on a mission, it’s by complete accident.

There’s some sort of chaos outbreak at HQ, and before he knows it, Taehyung--an untrained, unpaid, unsure intern--is swept into a slick black SUV and sent off to an unknown location.
He looks around, not very optimistic at the sight of the other nervous faces in the car. When the vehicle finally stops, the doors are pulled open by a very gruff-looking man, his face streaked with blood and his arm in a rough-looking sling.

Another thing about writing fill-ins (back when that was more of a thing). You had to be ready to go.

If someone offered you a gig, you couldn’t spend a week coming up with a really great idea. They needed it now. Usually, anyway.
I got offered JLA #231-232 because @gerryconway, the regular writer, didn’t want to do the JLA/JSA crossover that year (most of the characters were tied up in a plotline on Mars, anyway), so the editor, Alan Gold, had to find someone else to do it.
He’d offered it to a number of writers, and they’d all said no. Not enough time, and those stories were a headache to write, anyway. Plus, most of the JSA was unavailable, too, due to a storyline going on in INFINITY INC.
