For the record, I fundamentally dislike Theresa May. I think she's a morally sub-par human being, but anyone criticising her for almost crying at the end... after what she's put herself through these past three years... I'd have been in tears for MOST of that speech.

Boris Johnson is a political animal driven by nothing but amoral selfish ambition.
1⃣ He knew leaving the Single Market would harm the British People, yet saw Brexit as a way to ride a wave of nationalism into Downing Street.

I think there’s conceptual confusion here too, @ConceptualJames. I agree with sentences 2-4, but sentence 1 seems to conflate actuality with existence, but isn’t right. It’s the error of the Megarians, and has all the absurd consequences Aristotle shows of denying potentiality.
@ConceptualJames If the primary pro-choice argument can be made out cogently (I don’t think it can), wouldn’t the living human being that isn’t yet a person be precisely a “potential person”?

I don’t think it is, but the concept doesn’t seem incoherent.
@ConceptualJames Couldn’t a human sperm and ovum taken together be regarded as a “potential person” (assuming a conceptus is an actual person)?

If a conceptus is an actual person, and becomes so at the moment of fertilization, isn’t there *something* that pre-exists it that has the potentiality?

Graham in a fairly muted tone:

1) offers a weak, toothless defense of the utterly debunked fiction that Mueller cleared Trump
2) falsely claims “no obstruction” was a fair finding
MSNBC breaks into Graham’s fiesta of bullsh** to point out that he’s lying.

Graham now pivoting to talking about............. Hillary Clinton.

Senator Graham, it is incumbent upon you at this juncture to go f*** yourself for the remainder of eternity.

2/ Those who think Twitter readers don't have the patience for complex stories or arguments, or don't read widely across platforms and outlets, or are looking for simple "hot takes" are just wrong. There will always be some of that, but I've found readers to be incredibly astute.

Seeing a lot of "they're innocent til proven guilty" and "this means they are innocent" tweets about #Belfast today, so I thought I'd share what it was like being on a jury for rape and sexual assault.
I was the foreperson on a trial a short time ago, for a rape and sexual assault that happened approx. 2 years prior to the trial. As part of the process, the burden of proof was explained in detail to the jury members, as was our duty in relation to this.
In many cases, balance of probabilities is good enough - i.e. if it seems more likely that scenario A happened than scenario B, you can return in favour of scenario A.

This is not the case for serious crimes, such as rape and sexual assault.
