I haven’t really expanded on pinned tweet so thought I’d do it here🙂. Wanted to sum up my journey away from the Republican Party. I think & hope millions more have become disgusted with it. We should talk about it. Encourage others to leave /1

I started drifting from the Republican Party when I watched how the Great Recession unfolded. At time I still thought government intervention was bad

That’s when I did my deep dive in economics & American history📚 & realized I was wrong about..EVERYTHING😔 /2

I watched @Obama pass the stimulus bill. How the GOP began to sabotage everything he did. I learned how the Great Depression was finally put to rest. The massive stimulus from WW2. Of course wasn’t purpose but had that effect. Watched our economy improve /3

thanks partly to O’s gov intervention.

The @WSJ & FoxNews kept telling me it was going to make it worse. They were wrong

I learned America was one of 1st countries to have public education. That gave us leg up on the rest of the world. Improved our standard of living. Todays /4

GOP would have never allowed it. They’d scream “RADICAL SOCIALISTS” “DON’T TREAD ON ME”

Thank God there were wise politicians that ignored those imbeciles. FoxNews makes it difficult to ignore them today. Fox enables criminal conmen to be president. /5

I drifted away from the Right as I became more educated about American history. How the GOP of today would tar & feather Ronald Reagan a “Leftist”. How the private market needs help now & then. How the Left doesn’t want to control people with government. They want to help. /6

Help our neighbors. Our family. Not control. Help

All of that is why I voted for a Democrat for the 1st time in my life about 6 years ago. I’m extremely proud it was for @BarackObama 🇺🇸 /End

Ps. I don’t think of myself as any kind of expert on American history (why I follow @KevinMKruse) or some sort of stable economic genius(why I follow @paulkrugman , @BruceBartlett & others)

But I learned enuf to know the Right is wrong on both categories. See @DineshDSouza

I could go into detail bout Keynes vs Austrian. On macroeconomics. On American monetary policy & how Ben Bernanke is basically a hero for steering us thru Great Recession. Quantitative Easing worked. Gold standard is foolish

I hope @ewarren does what you suggest. There are millions of Republicans that are disaffected with the Republican Party now. I’ve heard Warren speak but never on her leaving the Repub party. Must be why I like her. I should give her more money🙂
