One thing I'd like to draw your attention to:

@justinamash decided to drop his megathread on Saturday... one day after this story hit.

Wanna bet the GOP knows exactly who those individuals who formerly held public position of trust were arrested?

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that perhaps @justinamash recognizes the shitstorm that's about to take out the GOP and is positioning himself as the frontrunner in the Libertarian party, the only pseudoconservative replacement with a shot at having 2020 infrastructure.
Let's just hope that his take on libertarianism doesn't follow the school of thought that they promote in @reason: that pedophilia is just an imaginary problem, or that prohibiting adults from sexual activity with children limits free will.

What is pain? You know what it feels like, but from a functional perspective, it's a switch in a circuit, meant to cause you move away from a harmful stimulus - like a hand on a hot stove, or a chemical...
And pain also helps keep you from engaging in normal activity that adds further injury to an existing wound.
How the circuit works:

1) nerve cells in epithelial tissue, like skin, called "nociceptors" have sensors that detect harmful stimuli, like heat, chemicals, pressure/impact

This. We need to reframe Government as a Service for citizens, not a bureaucracy.

Those inside government often have policy expertise, not UX chops. Part of governance is managing the expectations & experience of citizens in dealing with government.
One experiment I'd love to see a Presidential candidate address: Embed small 3-10 person UX teams at each agency to participate in the process of developing policy, practice, + streamlining interfaces between government agencies, citizens, and other stakeholders.
Citizens who have not committed any crime and who are not seeking to profit from an interaction should NOT be forced to spend their own money to achieve successful outcomes when interacting with the government.
