Today is the 4 year anniversary of the plague known as APC. So let us insult them.

A thread
APC is the most intellectually fraudulent party I’ve ever had the misfortune of supporting. This fraud is manifested in one particular way - making policy first and then looking for ‘evidence’ to justify it.
The original sin and biggest manifestation of this intellectual fraud was the currency crisis it engineered and which then led to the recession in 2016. Anyhow you slice or dice it goes back to that decision that had no evidence behind it
There are many other manifestations of this intellectual fraud like a baseless war on trade and belief that Nigeria can rise to glory powered by rice. But the currency one is the biggest one
If you flush your toilet in London today, the waste will be treated in sewers built by the Victorians in the 19th century. You can drive from the Atlantic to the Pacific coasts in America today on smooth roads. The people who built those roads are mostly all dead
Today there is around $40bn of debt sitting on CBN’s balance sheet costing $6bn a year just to service it. That debt is going to be paid by children who are not yet born. It will be their inheritance
It’s not always good to compare personal and govt finances but if you’ve been in debt before (I have) you will know what it does to you - it takes away your ability to take opportunities as they come. You can’t do anything else
The children who are going to be born in 2040 are not going to get decent public education that gives them a shot at life because public resources will be diverted to paying inherited debt
And what was the debt for? Simply to stop the exchange rate from moving because Buhari believes today’s Nigerians somehow have a God-given right to a stable exchange rate no matter what happens. This is his gift to the future
But he did all this with the acquiescence of his intellectually fraudulent party. He stole the future and the PhDs and clever people in the party all kept silent and fell over themselves to get him a second term
Now Nigeria faces a future of low or non-existent growth possibly for a generation. Any favourable change in the immigration policy of any rich country means another round of those able to run will quickly flee again
All that this intellectually fraudulent party cares about is power. They have already started fighting over 2023. Youth unemployment raging guaranteeing another damaged generation? Who cares? The question for them is which zone gets the ticket in 2023
May God’s righteous judgement be on all of them
