Meffy releases. I’m going to need to take a bath after ‘defending’ him but I can accept this explanation. What was being discussed on that tape was definitely *NOT* fraud or theft. But the matter is interesting enough without adding condiments 
That tape was a behind the scenes look at how terrible the public finances have been and how they’ve been juggling several balls to keep the show on the road. That is interesting on its own. Not everything needs to be ‘fraud’ or stealing.
Just to keep the states afloat, they have gotten Paris Club ‘refunds’, this N55bn/month ‘budget support’ as well loans against their share of the ECA. And all for what? To pay salaries. That’s it.
By August this year, it will be 5yrs since oil prices crashed. What has Nigeria spent those 5yrs doing? Waiting for the price to go back up. That’s it. Absolutely nothing serious has been done to fix the public finances and put them on a sustainable footing
