one thing i’ve learned since posting this is that incels are really mad about abortion. guys, it literally doesn’t affect you - you can’t get anyone pregnant because you don’t fuck.

good afternoon from this very exciting meeting
there are over 1000 people on the waitlist, which is currently closed to new applicants, for a housing voucher in charlottesville. even people who HAVE a voucher struggle to find a landlord that will take it.
the HAC policy subcommittee is exploring options to incentivize landlords to accept the vouchers. offering them low interest loans for energy efficiency improvements would address both climate concerns & the housing crisis.

One thing we’ve learned about NAFTA talks is that supposed deadlines are almost never real deadlines. And that is also true of the next supposed deadline for Canada to sign on, which is end of September.
The congressional notification Trump submitted yesterday starts a 90-day countdown to the possible formal signing of an agreement by the countries’ leaders. But nothing in it means a deal couldn’t be signed well after 90 days - 90 days is just the minimum amount of time.
The U.S. wants the final deal signed before Lopez Obrador is inaugurated on Dec 1. For that to happen, under U.S. trade law, the full text of the agreement has to be released by Oct 1. Meaning Canada would have to be on board by then.

Yesterday I had a pointless discussion with TRAs who couldn't understand why any study on transgender people that doesn't account for homosexuality as a variable is flawed. It's because whenever it is accounted for, this happens 👇
This study was reported in the media under such headlines as "Transgender people’s brain activity matches gender identity, not biological sex". Study wasn't linked, and unless you have access to PubMed and the original journal, you won't be able to read it. However
When you do get to read the article, one thing immediately jumps out:
"Most transgirls and all adolescent cisgender girls were androphilic and all transboys and adolescent cisgender boys reported to be gynephilic".

One thing I've learned from the Serverless debates. Avoid the use of the word containers.
Containers have technical merits: OS isolation, and more recently, software packaging and distributing. But containers also carry the baggage that all infrastructure components do. Containers are too low level.
Containerization is already in use by the majority of Serverless platforms as a hidden component, as it should be, but we are missing a very important part of modern containerization: the ability to package, distribute, and share applications.
