i am pleased to report that the @runwayml SPADE demo has a giraffe paintbrush mountain scene with boat and giraffes
as long as you're content to be Bob Ross and don't try to add floating islands or sheep-orbs, nvidia's gauGAN does a superior job being painterly.
plus it's an online demo!

my cat is terrific at avoiding exercise and needs to slim down. so i got her one of those food-dispensing balls.
the problem is she is not, um, quick to catch on to things. Tortoiseshell cat is a bit chunky
The ball. If you push it, food will come out of the holes. She does not know this. Blue ball with food barely visible inside
I pushed it for her. Two treats fell out. She sniffed them and then walked away.
Okay so the problem is compounded by the fact that she is apparently not hungry.

Perfectly normal reaction by senior officials within @MaltaGov (particularly OPM) to a minor court decision shuttering a further avenue for investigation into #PanamaPapers on technical grounds.

The #ruleoflaw in #Malta is fine and there is no #disinformation or spin whatsoever.
Case in point: @anticorruption’s plummeting ranking is also blamed:

Breaking news reports of the first genome-edited babies. If true, these are the first humans to be born with a deliberately edited germline (the inherited genome). They will be able to pass on these edited genes to their children. This is practice is outlawed in many countries.
Lots of focus on CRISPR "off-target effects" (when the target gene is edited, some other DNA might also be accidentally modified). This suggests that once this tech works without errors, we should go full steam ahead. Let me explain: bad tech is not why this is controversial. 2/n
It is entirely likely that in a matter of years we'll be able to edit precisely the genes we want to, and leave the rest of the genome intact. Should we then go ahead with human germline modification?

On 2/26/18, @mayflower_gal & I approached our school administration with a proposal, calling for our school to participate in a walkout; asking students to stand up and help speak out against gun violence. We were not alone; 6 other students also made a plan to walkout.
Admin met with all of us. Our original plans, while in need of further work, accounted for the variety of perspectives and opinions existing in our community while still emphasizing the point of the national movement #Enough.
During a series of meetings with admin, however, the students who were the most passionate were pushed to the side while the representatives of student council took control and twisted the original intent of our plan.
