here's a truth that you seldom hear high-functioning people talk about, IMO because the potential upside is low and the potential downside is high

once you cross certain thresholds on certain fronts, certain previously difficult-seeming things about life become *easy*
for me, the most epic eg is... flirting?

I used to *suck* at it

now I'm a "natural" at it

there's a scarcity/abundance dynamic

the difference in quality of social life as a bad flirt vs a good flirt *feels* like 1,000x, maybe 10,000x. "Nobody likes me" vs "people love me"
I wrote this mini-story a while ago because I was trying to express this, but I didn't know how to talk about it directly – and it really resonated with people

I find myself thinking about how victor wooten talks about music

"it's so easy, but we make it hard"

there's something here – getting to the point where things are easy, requires a lot of work

but there's something profound here, about ease

Here's @steveVai (who shares my birthday! hbd Steve!): "there's no work involved. it's all a joy. I never worked a day in my life, with the guitar. I never struggled. I've had a lot of challenges. but when it came to my feelings about what I do, never struggled a day in my life."
I used to watch that video over and over and try to internalize what he was saying. It seemed like voodoo magic. I wondered if he was lying or self-mythologizing. But I've come to think there's really something to it. There's something "zen" (idk) about it
there is no point to be reached, the point of dance is to dance

similarly the point of life is to live
