I find it odd that when I stepped in to point out it is slanderously false to accuse either @ApologiaStudios (Apologia Church) or @SummrWrites (Sheologians) of harboring support for, or promotion of, FVism—silence fell upon the land. Even the crickets held their peace.
@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites I spoke on the error of FVism for years after the AA conference. Did debates, seminars, etc. I noted at the time the commonalities, yet very different starting points, of FV and NPP proponents. Even got to do a mini-debate with NT Wright. And one thing about FVism….
@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites It is a paedobaptist phenomenon, by definition and necessity. An RB, for example, by confession, simply can’t go there. Our covenantalism has no room for the mixture of faith and works necessary to FVism (and too high a bibliology for serious NPPism).
@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites So evidently what we have here is a case of “Theological Cootie-ism.” That is, if you get too close to certain people, you will (in these folks’ minds) *automatically* contract theological cooties. We normally see TCism (see above) amongst fundamentalists. It’s their thing.
@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites But do not be fooled: the most rock-ribbed Truly Completely Forever Totally To-the-Max And Just About Only Me and Nobody Else Reformed can suffer from TCism as well, and, in fact, often do, as incoherent as that may be. They *should* know better but…traditions are hard.
@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites So let me be clear here: salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. There is no mixture of faith and works, no “faithfulness” to be added so as to maintain gifts granted in baptism.

@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites Apologia Church is credobaptist. We use the 1689 as our confession of faith. To accuse us of FVism is, well, just silly. I can’t speak for Sheologians, but half of that team is part of Apologia Church and the other half used to be (before moving out of state).
@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites What those suffering from TCism need to recognize is that we do not have to be FV to appreciate clear statements of truth from those with whom we have theological disagreements. We use mega-effective theological hand sanitizer. It’s called “knowing what you believe and why.”
@ApologiaStudios @SummrWrites So I am not expecting apologies from the many who, just 48 hours ago or so, were yammering away about Sheologians and Apologia and throwing about the FV label—every single one of them knows they could never document the charge outside of Theological Cootie-ism.
