Does anyone know what happened to GPS/ADS-B last night? The issue seemed to be quite widespread with a lot of aircraft grounded.

Lucky that this happened late on a Saturday night. Has this happened on a weekday this would have been leading headlines on national news. Some sort of GPS fault grounded a chunk of the US commercial fleet and hardly anybody noticed.
It seemed to only impact smaller aircraft like the CRJ series. But also impacted @HawaiianAir 717s all the way out in Hawaii. That's too wide an area for GPS jamming.

Here's additional detail from @HawaiianAir stating that it was an issue with its GPS/ADS-B receiver on 717s. It was apparently able to resolve the issue after a quick grounding.
Whatever the GPS/ADS-B issue impacting airlines is looks like it is still causing widespread issues. @EndeavorAir @MesaAirlines @SkyWestAirlines posting major delays and cancelations on @flightaware
Getting some clarity on what is causing these GPS/ADS-B issues. It seems @CollinsAero preformed an update on a block of GPS satellites which is not working well with a set of Multi-mode receivers on aircraft. Some aircraft can fly without it, others cannot.
So what's the workaround for aircraft with transponders impacted by this GPS satellite issue? They can resort to old school navigation using VORs and such, but @FAANews has taken many VORs offline as GPS replaced them and pilots are having to ask for vector navigation. Wild.
Some updated guidance from @FAANews. The issues is mostly contained to aircraft with the @CollinsAero GPS 4000-100 transponder. Impacted aircraft must coordinate with FAA before departure.
