Beware: The House was never planning to hold Barr in criminal contempt. The committee holding that process 'in abeyance" is not really a thing.
We reported a week ago that "criminal" contempt was off the table. Dems described it as an empty gesture because DOJ would never prosecute its boss anyway:

I'd be *very* wary of characterizing this deal between DOJ with the judiciary committee until there are details. Dems' starting position was demanding every scrap of Mueller's paper -- what they've narrowed it to will be telling.
THE TAKEAWAY: The Judiciary Committee is postponing any court action against the Justice Department for failing to turn over all of special counsel Mueller's evidence.

NADLER has agreed to give Barr more time after a narrower agreement to share *some* of Mueller's evidence.
Nadler didn't say which slices of Mueller's evidence DOJ agreed to share or when he'd get it.

JUST IN: Judiciary Committee Democrats hearing Thursday will focus on *five* of Mueller's obstruction incidents, all of which they say Hope HICKS has knowledge of and may testify to on Wednesday.

Witnesses Thursday include: @rickhasen
@rickhasen The incidents include:

-The Comey firing
-Efforts to remove Mueller
-Efforts to get Sessions to curtail the Mueller probe.
-The public unearthing of the Trump Tower meeting
-Allegations of Trump campaign finance violations
Judiciary Committee aides say they will require the White House to formally assert executive privilege in order to consider it valid during Hicks' testimony.

That means a White House lawyer will be in the room during the interview.

Shocker: Bill Barr—appointed AG after giving Trump a 19-page memo saying Trump didn't obstruct justice—just exonerated Trump of obstruction of justice. Mueller specifically said "this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him"
Mueller couldn't establish corrupt intent for obstruction of justice b/c Trump refused to talk w/ investigators. W/o putting Trump under oath, Barr exonerates him. Barr was put in charge of DOJ to salvage the GOP—even if it meant letting Trump get away with everything. Shameful.
.@JeffreyToobin points out the impropriety of AG Barr concluding no obstruction of justice when the whole point of appointing a special counsel was b/c Trump’s political appointees—like AG—have an inherent conflict of interest. And now we see, AG Barr is indeed Trump’s lackey.
