So, Father’s Day is coming up. It’s hard for people like me who lost their dads early, but I’m hearing from a lot of readers who read my book The Man They Wanted Me To Be and had breakthroughs with dads they thought were lost to Fox News/Trumpism.

A big chunk of the book is about my dad, who had next to nothing to do with me as a kid because he was too busy pretending to be a hardass but later in life admitted masculinity had trapped him and kept him from happiness.

Eventually he changed, traded in his pickup for a Prius, started caring about climate change, became anti war, and swore off his racist, fascist beliefs. It was a small miracle, but the truth is he was scared and insecure like all men who behave like that.

Anyway, it should make a decent Father’s Day gift if you want to give it another try of breaking through that wall or want to understand for yourself. It’s helped some people so far.

The truth is these men are being radicalized and taken advantage of by Fox News, Trump, the Republican Party, and special interests who tune their messaging directly to insecure men. It’s a hard sell getting them free, but it can be done.
