Boris Johnson just said:

“There hasn’t been enough to think about what we can do to foster a greater sense of Europeanism and a Conservative sense of Europeanism.“

I wonder why.
Johnson: “at the same time as leaving the EU now is the time to be intensifying our trading relationships and partnerships with those countries.”

By definition, leaving the EU means our relationship with those countries is less close. I thought that was the point. Remarkable.
All in all, especially in Johnson’s answers to journalists, double meaning and illogic reigned. And this is probably the most detailed public questioning to which he’ll subject himself before he’s put to the membership. Another triumph for the British democratic process.
