Stunningly damning piece with some data about #Biden even I was unaware of. Marcotte makes some critical points here about Biden and his birth control history.

The most crucial point in Marcotte's exegesis is that #Biden has always stood up for right wing Catholics and evangelicals over women on repro rights and she outlines specific instances including as VP that are quite disturbing.

And it IS telling that the small percentage of pro-#Biden poll numbers among women are all post-menopausal age. Which is cringeworthy when you think about it. Choice has to be protected for all women and girls. So as Marcotte notes, the nominee must be all in for women.

Marcotte enumerates the many times #Biden has not only NOT been all in for women, but he has actively voted against, campaigned against and argued against an array of birth control and #abortion legislation. And she notes how much power a president wields to push an agenda.

Off of here for a few days & come back to discover that not only do some people not wash their legs & feet in the shower, but they don't wash their hands after using the loo.
Honestly, if I weren't already incredibly sick, this would have made me throw up.

Wash. Your. Selves.
Not washing properly spreads bacteria everywhere. Which makes other people sick.
This is like not vaccinating your kids. Stop being a vector.
As someone who spends too much time in hospitals, the leading cause of death in hospitals is infections caused by people not washing their hands. It's not hard, so just do it.

Well as someone with #cancer, I must say, this sounds great. But didn't Obama put #Biden in charge of curing cancer in a "moonshot" in 2015? How did that go? Because we never heard a word about it.

So first #Biden tells us that when he's elected all the Republicans are going to have an epiphany because Trump is a #GOP anomaly (he is not), and now he's going to cure #cancer.

Amazing what plummeting poll numbers will do for a campaign.
As someone who is currently very sick who hasn't been allowed to eat food for several days, and has been too sick to even be on Twitter in days, I'm just going to say that if #cancer were that easy to cure, 17M Americans, myself included, wouldn't have it.

A passage from Smucker's "Hegemony How To: A Roadmap for Radicals" about activism, subcultures, and insularity. The intended audience for this book is lefties but this is nevertheless insanely relevant for hard righties, perhaps more so than for any other group
Smucker makes some critical points here. Activists often ensconce themselves in ideologically homogeneous -but insular - circles. This feels good but means that whatever organic communities and institutions they are (or were) a part of remain 'depoliticized', uncontested terrain
I want to sear this passage into every righty's consciousness. 'Debate' is stupid, the 'marketplace of ideas' is mega stupid, and even if you happen to correctly diagnose the problems at hand then that is an *entirely different* domain of knowledge than what to *do* about them

I've always had a dislike for the uncanny, for the middle ground--this is why I like top 40 & noise music, but hate alt rock, why I like classical instrumentation & synthesizers, but not bullshit like metal that uses symphonic elements.
It's why I find reading explicit fascists, conservatives & reactionaries (Schmitt, Strauss, Oakeshott, Gray, Benoist, etc) easier than reading gormless mealy mouthed middle ground cryptos, even as I despise what the explicits say.
I know A LOT of people who are like this actually, in academia, the arts, and activism, but it always admittedly runs the risk of prioritizing the critique of liberalism over the success of leftism, and it's one reason why you get Red-Brown alliances.

Let’s talk about what having body autonomy can mean to a woman’s life. I want to share something my mom didn’t tell me until I was almost 40.
My mom was 20 when she had me. She wasn’t an assertive young woman. Unlike me, she mostly deferred to authority, especially her own doctors.
She hadn’t planned to get pregnant with me. She didn’t plan any of her pregnancies, in fact, but she was unaware that her birth control was frequently being rendered ineffective by medication she was prescribed for a chronic problem at that phase of her life.
