Melinda Katz ran an ad this morning where she lies about @CabanForQueens. I know she is lying because Tiffany was my colleague at @LegalAidNYC.

Tiffany was a full-time staff attorney, with a full caseload. She worked arraignments once a week, like all of us, but not full time.
Shortly after she started at Legal Aid, I asked Tiffany to be co-counsel for the hearing stage of a First Degree Robbery case (a class B violent felony), which is virtually unheard of, because I knew she was so capable.
Tiffany wrote the suppression and Sandoval/Molineux motion in the case. It was an example of outstanding legal writing. Tiffany was diligent, hardworking and smart.

It matters that LA DA Lacey continues to seek the death penalty, even with Governor Newsom’s moratorium. First, it skews the jury pool. To sit on a capital case, a juror must be willing to impose the death penalty. That's a small minority of people in LA. theappeal.org/jackie-laceys-…
Jurors who support the death penalty are also much more likely to be pro-prosecution and to vote to convict.
Continuing to seek the death penalty also normalizes harsh sentences, like life in prison without the possibility of parole.

A sentence of life without parole is in effect a death sentence – just by incarceration not execution.

Los Angeles County DA Jackie Lacey has won death sentences against a total of 22 people, all of them of color, and eight of them represented by lawyers with serious misconduct charges against them, since she took office in 2012. gu.com/p/by5m3/stw
Defense lawyers in five of the 22 cases were suspended or disbarred, Defense counsel for two other defendants was put on probation, and the attorney for another is currently facing multiple bar charges.
In one case an attorney declined to make an opening statement – offering no defense at all – and then repeatedly fell asleep during the trial.

Trump just finished speaking about what he refers to as the "humanitarian crisis" at the border.

During his speech, Trump talked about:

-Drug dealers
-Traffickers
-Gang members
-"Dangerous criminal aliens"

He did not once mention the 800,000 federal employees who are going with their paychecks right now. 1/
Trump's "proposal" involved "offering" limited "protection" for 700,000 DACA recipients in exchange for fully funding his border wall.

What he (and @AP) failed to mention is that he is the one who took that protection away in the first place. 2/
