Good evening, Twitter Influencer. #ThisIsYourConscienceSpeaking. This is to let you know that you may soon lose people like @DrJoeAbah on this app. You have stood idly by (and sometimes even supported it) when decency and reason have been turned on their heads on this app. Thread
People are now being paid to drag people based on false allegations. You say nothing and even sometimes join in. Others are manufacturing and posting conversations that never happened, for clout. You enthusiastically join in the “fun”/madness. Many are now releasing private DMs.
The other day I saw one guy tweet: “Abeg who is getting dragged today. Me, I want to insult o.” He didn’t care who it is. He doesn’t need to know who it is or the rights and wrongs of the matter. He just wants to pour bile. You, the Influencer, say nothing. You even retweet.
People are making up conversations that never happened, just for clout. You enthusiastically join in. Others are posting pictures of busty women (not their own strong, ugly, male faces, claiming to be new to Twitter, and gaining thousands of followers within hours. You follow.
The political people I understand and can predict. They only have two accusations:
1. You’ve been paid
2. You are looking for appointment.
Most of them are harmless, really.
There is a new group taking over this platform though. You, Twitter Influencer, seem not to have noticed.

They post fake pictures of sick children they don’t even know and seek donations. You, Twitter Influencer, are suspicious but you retweet so that you don’t get dragged for not doing so. You are so scared of being dragged. Anything at all but getting dragged sha. They know this.
This used to be a platform for breaking news, good info, learning, teaching & bants. Now, it’s a vehicle for bullying. Even when people try to bully you & you resist, others will quickly come to tell you why you shouldn’t answer back, further attempting to bully you into silence.
As Twitter is an all-comers affair and cannot regulate itself, I thought the Influencers will do more to set the tone here. Instead, everybody is scared of being dragged. Those that pay for the dragging see the deep pain dragging causes the person dragged. They know it works.
As some of us are not here to seek validation but to learn, teach the little we can & laugh, we seem to now be confronted with a different animal. Do we still need to be here at all? If so, will you do more as an Influencer to help set the tone? Or will you be scared? Think am o.
