#FIFAWomensWorldCup #EnglandVsCameroon It’s important that the conversation broadens for sure, and I think people are touching on points that aren’t discussed enough. I think as supporters of football and perhaps just being humans in general, it is easy to see why people have
sympathy for these underserved nations. In terms of resources and financial support, it is quite clear there is a disparity amongst nations. The Thailand, USA match being one evident example. It was highly discussed for other reasons, but an aspect I think that was overlooked is
Thailand’s character. They played their way, their system for 90 minutes. They didn’t sit back despite the goals being let it in, and they continued to fight fairly and hard the whole 90 minutes.

Cameroon players were seen spitting on an England player in one occasion, elbowing
one in another, so visibly upset that their coach had to embrace a player to try to calm her down during a VAR decision, a reckless foul in stoppage time, and other questionable moments. You can perhaps argue some moments are the nature of the game/accidents, sure, but others you
cannot and I honestly find the behavior disappointing. As someone with English, American, and Nigerian ties, I found it embarrassing watching a nation represent Africa like that. I also find it it worse that people are defending it in my opinion. Because again, in my opinion,
that to me means subconsciously you have and hold African nations at a lower standard. I understand the frustrations of football, I understand being in the moment, and I understand strongly disagreeing with VAR decisions, but behavior in these times is still massively important
and showing character is still vital. There should be no lowered standard on that principle. That is universal.
