When we were sold to the white man, there was only tribe vs tribe, and not any collective Pan African identity or togetherness. Collect ur award and walk off. Y’all make my knees hurt. #ADOS
And we’ve got to stop looking to Africans as our parents, patriarchs, & matriarchs. You don’t get to tell me what or how to remember. Everything changed when our ancestors reached American shores. Calling us African erases everything else we are, including slavery rape.
If Sally Hemings matters, as Coates said during the hr 40 hearing, then we must acknowledge that her circumstances matter; Thomas Jefferson & all of it. We are a UNIQUE group.
This sort of comment just makes too many #ADOS feel Black Panther type powerful. This is not Wakanda though. It’s a fraudulent high. It’s heroine joy. It’s not real.
I don’t *NEED* to remember anything, not my African blood, nor my European. All I need to remember is our 400 year fight for freedom against the most advanced white supremacists on the planet. I don’t *NEED* to remember u to feel pride in my #ADOS lineage. 🇺🇸

1/ Any “brown” person may face discrimination, but the cost of AMERICAN slavery, & the multigenerational oppression that followed, is a cost paid by #ADOS, not Blacks in general. It’s “hogwash” to not understand that
2/And this is why #ADOS seeds took root & the seeds of Pan Africanists pushing for reparations died. It never made any sense to give reparations to Black people who didn’t bear the very real, quantifiable cost of slavery & accrued disadvantage. It’s stupid.

Do people think anti-Semitism is fixed by paying reparations to the Jewish community? Of course not! So why is Bernie pushing his “concern” that the government will give #ADOS $20k in reparations & say they’ve fixed racism? It’s ridiculous! #LineageMatters 🇺🇸
Any reparations plan would include more than just a check. It must be accompanied by action to make us a protected class, open up funnels to business capital that isn’t predatory, etc. And Jews who are descendants of Holocaust victims are still getting paid. Not a ☝️ time payout.

Another day, another oddball smear right @heyydnae?

1. ADOS = American Descendants of SLAVERY (the institution), not slaves.

2. We’re highly critical of the GOP, but seeing how Blacks hand over most of our votes to Democrats, we expect an exchange.
3. You don’t under stand the difference between nativist and nationalism. And no, nationalist & white nationalist aren’t interchangeable.
4. I said Joy Reid isn’t #ADOS and she’s not. Full stop. But my main problem with her is the smear campaign about us being Russian bots, which she gave voice & credibility to on her show. Anyway, this piece was a silly regurgitation of past smears. Won’t waste anymore time

1. This right here is wrong, wrong, wrong, and this is NOT a strategy that Foundational Black Americans should be following. When people talk about nationalizing under one big global African group, they ALWAYS want it to be a one sided effort on the part of ADOS. (Cont.)
2. FBAs aren’t “New Africans”. We are the FOUNDATION of the United States. That is OUR nationality. So coming up with all these “new” nationalities etc, those are STALLING tactics. And these strategies are designed to allow new immigrant groups to further capitalize from ADOS
3. When it’s time for all of us to “stand together as Pan-Africans”, etc, Black Americans help every other group get here to our ancestrial land, & once they get here, THEY DISTANCE THEMSELVES FROM US, and in too many cases, we are looked at as “akatas” and other epithets by them

We got by b/c my mom got a city job as a lunch lady, so we had healthcare & ate leftover school lunches my mom brought home. Dad hustled as a barber & store-front preacher. They never owned a home or a car.
@mister18900 @SandyDarity 2. When dad died of cancer, the VA paid for the plot but the life ins they could afford didn’t cover all the rest. I paid.

I inherited his few books. I recall my dumb anger w/ him for “leaving me nothing, like he’d never existed”.

I didn’t know what America had done to him.
@mister18900 @SandyDarity 3. At his funeral, my mom said my dad “was too good a man to die the way he did.” I didn’t fully know what she meant then b/c we struggled much & their marriage was rocky.

W/o #ADOS historical perspective, I was measuring my dad’s life compared to White wealth.

3/ particularly inside the US who may not be even more than two or three generations in, whose ancestors went through US chattel slavery and escaped during the revolutionary war or slightly afterwards, and colonized with the help of white abolitionists countries in West Africa.
