I appreciate this Report. It’s good to see teams starting to dig into the actual usage data of blockchains - someone needs to actually get consumers using these things! That said I still think Kin is the most used crypto in the world. Thoughts on why below theblockcrypto.com/2019/06/24/coi…
There are two ways to look at blockchain usage: the amount of value transacted, and the number of people transacting. Value transacted is an interesting metric, and on this metric Kin is small. Most of this usage is traders moving crypto back and forth. That’s not Kin’s focus
Kin’s focus has always been on the number of people transacting, no matter how small the amount. These are real consumers, transacting on chain and in control of their own keys, using Kin as money in the digital world.
While the amounts per transaction are small today, the number of people transacting is high: 380,000 spenders in the last month alone! People tell us that no other crypto project has been able to crack this yet. This is why we say Kin is the most used crypto in the world
Based on the definition of people transacting vs value transacted, it seems The Block and Coin Metrics would agree with our claim! “If activity were to be measured by payments count, Kin would be considered the most active blockchain.”
This is exciting to us because from our experience it is much harder to get someone to use an unfamiliar platform, than it is to get them to use an already familiar more. To get a feel for just how much Kin is being used check out this awesome visualizer kin-bubbles.herokuapp.com
