out of all the things i ever posted on here people 100% got the most upset at a thread where i talked about not liking rap music. people still quote tweeted it for like a full year constantly (doesnt exist anymore) and it even got into a contrapoints video lmao
i honestly dont care if other people like rap, whatever, but the phenomenon of other people getting profoundly upset when someone else doesnt like something you like on the internet will never not be hilarious to me
after having an account on twitter that people get extremely mad at for multiple years (its usually unintentional and i honestly dont enjoy the type of people it attracts, ngl) i have noticed that when people get upset they project their own personal insecurities. we all do this
im sure i do it as well so this isnt some holier than thou type thing but people will project out at you their own method of understanding pathologies. so someone who is insecure will say “wow you’re obviously so insecure”, etc., maybe this is obvious. its like a 100% correlation
i think the “getting upset when someone else doesnt like the thing you like online” thing is rooted in some idea people have about conformity. i can honestly say if i saw someone trash talking painters i like id just assume they had bad taste. part of me doesnt get it at all 🤔
