Random unsolicited endorsement: getethos.com was willing to write a $1 million term life insurance policy at a reasonable rate without requiring a medical exam or more than about 12 minutes of attention (over 3 days).
There are many technologists of my acquaintance who do currently, or will in the future, have people or causes who would be materially harmed if their future earning power went away, and who are underinsured against this.

I suggest fixing if this applies to you.
I meet a lot of geeks. At least one of them is no longer with us, and that became a pass-the-hat situation at a very, very trying time for their family.

Term life insurance is, possibly, the crowning achievement of the financial industry. It's cheap, efficient, and lifechanging.

Difference in productivity is a brute fact of the universe.

Openly acknowledging the degree of difference of productivity within an org boundary is so internally destructive that it is one of the reasons to have org boundaries.
As somebody who has assuredly had their own productivity vary by at least two orders of magnitude over their career, even if you just scope it to professional jobs, I tend to think that productivity differences are not static to individuals. The work, the org, the team matters.
But a lot of folks are quite committed to the position that, within a single well-functioning org on a well-functioning team with good people, everyone's productivity either compresses or can no longer said to be materially reflective of individual contribution.

In an innovation which is pretty cyberpunk, I’ve run into N>2 instances of professionals in Japan using a Facebook account named, without loss of generality, Taro Company.

This is presumably because FB messenger runs a lot of Japan business communications.
And separating the work persona from the personal persona helps the employee with establishing boundaries that traditionally managed Japanese employees and their counter parties would otherwise transgress frequently without specifically intending the transgression.
For myself I keep my FB account locked like a drum and refuse to do any work on it, although I am fighting a rearguard action given how years of running professional elbows can turn into friendship.

In “product innovations which I wouldn’t have expected but which make lots of sense”; Starbucks has a debit card in the US (through Chase).
That’s presumably taking advantage of Starbucks being the habitual use location (and super distribution channel) that bank branches used to be.

Back in the day, banks got at least two tries to talk to a customer a month, like clockwork (payday).
There are *relatively* fewer customers these days who do that, and most of them are happy with their current bank account.

I bet the strategy here isn’t finding habitually unbanked people; it’s about grabbing share with very “bankable” young’uns who are a bit bank-shy.

One of my followers asked about stories that illustrate why you shouldn't listen to stories/narratives about why you shouldn't rely just on them to make investment decisions. Here are a few:
2/ Let begin with you walking up with a horrible pain in your stomach. You've had it for a week or more and are worried. It just so happens your doctor has an opening that afternoon, so you grab the appointment to see if it might be something serious.
3/ You get to your doctor and describe the pain and he says "You're in luck! I just a had a pharmaceutical rep in and he told me the about how great these new little pills are for stomach problems. He said all of his friends and family have tried them, and the worked every time"
