Just as Biden deserves having his defense of busing ban vs federal intervention, so does Bernie's similar stances on guns. This is by far the most extensive history of all that to date: m.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/sticki…
Bernie supporters tend to deny that his past record on guns, or excuse it as "well what do you expect from Vermont." But that doesn't fly with a lot of women, urban and suburban, who power the Democratic party.
As with Biden, a fuller inventory/apology might be more prudent.

Also not to put too much stock in how Bernie's friend describes his position on guns but "the anti-gun movement is elitist" is very erasing of the people in communities most afflicted by steady gun violence.
