Emotional fitness tip for any relationship: Don’t ask. Just help.

“Let me know what I can do...” is well-intentioned but not helpful.

Do the extra 4 minutes of work to think of something that would be helpful, and then do it.

Below are some ideas...what are others?
💰 For a fundraising founder: reach out to a few VC’s who might be interested and ask if you can make an intro, then make it.
💆🏾‍♂️ For a stressed colleague: leave their favorite lunch on their desk on a day when they probably won’t have time to go out and get food.
💔 For a friend going through a tough time: have a gift basket delivered with easy to enjoy treats. I recommend @zingermans always.
🤱🏼 For a new mom: find out what kind of diapers she uses and have a box delivered.
✨ For anyone at all: ask them, at a time when all is well, how they like to be treated or supported when they’re down. Take note and refer back when needed.

Okay folks I want to talk about PREREGISTRATION OF STUDIES in the social sciences.

The trend of pre-committing to certain methods/projects and thus reporting null findings is a big trend, and heralded by many observers as a big improvement in social science.

I’m skeptical.
Pregistration is fine and good. I have no beef with it. And when used by well-intentioned, enthusiastic early adopters predisposed to making the system work and who believe in the idea of publishing nulls, pregistration definitely will do some good.
Beyond this group, of preregistration becomes normative, I suspect we will find that its benefits fade. It will create a lot of extra work for researchers and ultimately not accomplish the real goal.

Preface: This is an unscientific experiment on many-many levels. The trailer is not moving. The "road markings" make no sense.

The experiment is only on TACC, since AP typically won't engage anyway. 18mph is the minimum TACC speed.
Blue circle on the left in IC = TACC is ON. 1/
when you press brake pedal, TACC turns off (blue circle disappears). That's how you know intervention happened.

Please forgive me for not trying 50mph.

The results were somewhat inconsistent. From IC display a theory emerged truck was pingponging between detected lanes 2/
great thing about the videos below is they don't require anything special from you. just find a trailer, connect your dashcam/IC cam and you can try the same scenario I did (just be careful!)

Hey. If you need to hear this, I hope you're ready to listen:

You do not have to wait until you hit rock bottom or reach the end of your rope before asking for help.

You do not have to wait "because it might get worse" or "because it might get better". You can ask for help now.
I know it's not always safe to ask for help, if that's your situation I am so sorry and I will help if I can, even if that just means listening, my DMs stay open.

But if pride or guilt or fear of embarrassment are behind your reluctance to ask for help - please ask anyway.
I want you to have help. You deserve to have help.

I want you to feel whole, and well, and safe. You deserve to feel whole, and well, and safe.

It's okay to need help. It's okay to want help, even if you're not sure you *need* it.

I know I usually just post about video games and such, if I post at all, but I really have to rant about a horrible experience I just had with @BJsWholesale and @Instacart . Feel free to tune this out if you don't like complaining.
It's the day after New Year's and I am super wiped. I had been traveling for two weeks for the holidays and just needed to not think of my responsibilities while I got my energy back. So I decided to order some groceries from BJ's, which I had good experiences in the past with.
I put in a relatively large order, over 200 dollars of groceries, because A) I hadn't gone shopping since late November due to my holiday trip and my cuppboard was BARE and B) when I shop for bulk groceries like this I always try to make them last about a month.
