Very interesting geological information on the SoCal 6.4 earthquake yesterday.

Also read yesterday the reason the LA early warning didn't occur is because it was felt as less than a 5.

Not sure it would have made much difference as the local quake in the desert only alerted within 48 seconds of hitting magnitude.

In addition to this from other sources, the faults are widening. The 6.4 was a fore shock quake to the 7.1 ... likely there will be more before this settles down.

Earthquake waves travel around and through the earth, but they get smaller (attenuate) as they move away from the earthquake location, just like ripples in a pond.

I've been having some interesting conversations with brother @farid_0v about some passages in the old testament and some Islamic sources about The Prophet (saw). Mainly revolving around Isaiah 42, and the name of The Prophet in the Torah
Now, when arab writers used the term "tawrah" they often simply mean the entire old testament, not the five books of moses only. So Isaiah would be included under that. Isaiah 42 has been linked with The Prophet by the sahabi, Abdullah bin Amr (below is not a verbatim quote)
The above is likely a paraphrase or maybe from a targum he had come across (look it up if you aren't familiar with the term), but it's clear the noisemaker in the markets line references Isaiah 42

1/ Earthquake armchair quarterbacking. As soon as the M7.9 earthquake occurred, there was an immediate clue suggesting a large tsunami was unlikely.
2/ The reported depth was *only* 20 kilometers. Tsunamis are generated by large vertical displacements. These only occur in subduction earthquakes in open water.
3/ Subduction earthquakes are usually much deeper than 20 kilometers. Also, the earthquake epicenter was far removed (south and east) of where subduction earthquakes would be located.
