hey high schoolers, instead of taking AP classes, take community college classes instead !

they’re:

- free for high schoolers
(pay books only)

- guaranteed college credit
(don’t need to take AP exam for them to count)

- more easily transferred & accepted than AP / IB
- Also, CC classes have a space reserved for HS students (super handy bc it’s hard to get spots in classes :( )

- if you don’t like the teachers or classes at your school, know it’s an option come to these classes instead for the credits needed

(my friend did this w/ Spanish)
HOW TO DO THIS?

1. Go to your local community college’s website

2. Look for the tab with the HS students in the admissions section (sometimes called concurrent enrollment or dual enrollment )

3. Finish all the requirements listed
Here’s links for the local Bay Area:

CHABOT ( EAST BAY- HAYWARD)
chabotcollege.edu/admissions/con…

OHLONE ( TRI-CITY AREA- FREMONT)
ohlone.edu/admissions/k12…

DE ANZA ( SILICON VALLEY AREA )
deanza.edu/outreach/concu…
WARNING:

Once you start these classes, you start your college transcript-

Your scores and grades will be on here forever AH but ! It’s worth it in my opinion

If you have any inquiries, or need further insight, my DM’s are open ❤️
* CLARIFICATION: Kindergarten-12th grade students are exempt from paying the California Community College Enrollment Fee ($46 per unit) but are subject to the Electronic Access Fee, Health Services Fee, and the optional Student Activity Fee.

save y’all money, college is so $$$
growing up I saw my friends graduate with 100k-200k debt & stress out sm about how to support themselves

I don’t want anyone to experience something similar :,)

know this is an option, and it helps on your college admissions too bc it shows that *extra effort* ❤️
I only learned about this in my senior year, but I got away with certificates in in marketing operations, photography and I graduated HS with a 4.0 in college and a head start in my goal to transfer

having two sets of finals made me want to die but if I can do it so can u :,D
@UCBerkeley watch me transfer to your campus speaking into existence 💛💙💛💙
PS. For first timers I recommend summer classes so you have more free time and aren’t doing a double workload of HS and college ❤️
NOT ALL CC CLASSES ARE TRANSFERRABLE

Here are some guides to help out ❤️

First one = CSU
Second one = UC

* these are resources for public schools in California, private universities & out of state schools have different requirements so make sure to research!
FURTHER CLARIFICATION:

Some CC classes aren’t transferrable.

Some universities (out of state/country usually) prefer AP/IB -

Just know this is an option, do your research before taking classes, and good luck on your studies ❤️!
PS. hi there love, hope you’re doing well ❤️

i just wanted to say thank you for helping spread all of this info & sharing your stories :,)

Also this tweet thread is more California in-state education based, and I’ve noticed the big difference in educational opportunities across state lines

LETS CHANGE THIS

FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT AND MAKE SURE EVERY CHILD IN THIS NATION HAS THINGS LIKE THIS
*I put it on the wrong thread piece but I hope people see this :,) ❤️
