Psssst...at the start of the Common Era, the Israelites were dark-skinned, much closer to black than anything you'd call white.

The modern ethnic group we call Jewish, which has lighter skin, evolved through centuries of diaspora and intermingling with the population of Europe.
Furthermore @iheartmindy, the pictures of Jesus as light-skinned and long-haired aren't based on any contemporary image of him. They're based on Medieval European painters mixing up extremely vague descriptions in the Bible with what they understood people to look like.
(Of course if we REALLY want to get into it, there's almost no secular evidence to support Jesus/Yeshua Ben Yosef having existed at all. In fact, there's literally more evidence that King Midas was a real person than that Jesus was.)
