THREAD: Elizabeth Warren has just released her immigration plan. From decriminalizing illegal entry to ending expedited removal, it is not hyperbolic to describe this plan as verging on open borders. We'll be addressing her proposals one by one here.
.@ewarren joined Julian Castro in calling for decriminalization of illegal entry into the country. This would cause a massive migrant influx that would exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, and enrich cartels along the way who make $1,000 per migrant crossing northern Mexico.
Warren says she'll terminate 287(g), the program that encourages cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration authorities.

The 287(g) program has been effective at keeping criminals in jails and off the streets.

Warren says she will “significantly reduce immigration detention" and instead invest in "alternatives to detention", such as ankle monitors.

In fact, the evidence in favor of ATDs is quite weak. In many cases, aliens simply cut off the ankle bracelets.

Warren says she'll eliminate expedited removal entirely, and instead create a national-scale immigration “public defenders corps”.

It's hard to imagine removing almost anyone in such a system, even those with illegitimate asylum claims--but perhaps that's the point.
Elizabeth Warren wants to drastically raise the refugee cap to 125,000 in her first year and eventually reach 175,000, in order to save lives.

Of all UNHCR resettlement submissions, only 7.5% are urgent. Resettlement is rarely a matter of life and death.

Warren has joined other Democrats in saying that climate change and violence are the “root causes” of migration.

In fact, our analysis found 0 correlation between homicide rates and migration, and 0 correlation between crop production and migration.

Throughout her immigration plan, Warren attributes migration to the United States primarily to people fleeing violence.

In fact, most are coming for jobs. A Guatemalan government poll found 91% of Guatemalans were coming to the US for economic reasons.

Overall, Warren's new immigration plan represents a dismantling of immigration enforcement, a massive handout to cartels and coyotes smuggling migrants through Latin America, and a drastic expansion of total immigration into the United States at the expense of US workers.
For a candidate who claims to represent the interests of the working class, @ewarren’s immigration plan seems tailor-made to supply billionaires and multinational corporations with an unlimited supply of both legal and illegal cheap labor, with little consideration of US workers.
