Apple /Google and crypto. A thread. Tldr: not good.
If you develop a service on blockchain and want to aim at "mainstream" and don't think mobile first you got it all wrong. This is where mainstream is. Google and Apple own mobile. But won't play the crypto game fair and square

Of all activities crypto is one of the few that will never get featured by them. Meaning "no" to free accelerated distribution enjoyed by games, diet and news apps and more. Mobile marketing is already handicapped

If your crypto app sells any sort of digital service or good paid In digital currency (eg a kitties) you will be rejected because only in app purchase is accepted

If you have a dapp browser you won't be able to "replicate the app store" discovery. No dapps. No future on mobile. Only via safari. Which sucks. Or an empty In app browser which asks the user to guess where to go

Secure elements and enclave: help to protect secrets but you can't yet use them to store private keys. Latest apple crypto kit doesn't support the right elliptic curves for crypto

Coin support. If you play with known assets no problem. If you build a new blockchain good luck. It can take a while until your app will be approved

User protection: there are many scams out there. Apple and google could do more to remove the bad players and highlight the good one (editor choice). The second part is highly unlikely. See above.

Crypto won't win until apple and google fully embrace crypto. It doesn't matter your blockchain is censorship resistant. Decentralized. Scales. Access to mobile is they key.

Bonus: 2FA/Sim Jacking. Apple and Google could massively improve and resolve this. Educate people in not using a mobile number as a factor, set up 2FA/back up more easily.

Bonus 2: Android - Fix clipboard management so wallet addresses can't be gamed by third-party apps. iOS/Android URL verification using things like @MetaCert to avoid phishing and scams
