This is very strange if you think about it

In the '40s-'60s, these people were promising us flying cars, moon colonies, etc

Now their ideology is promising us that toilet paper is destroying the planet + we must use our bare hands to gouge the cricket chitin out of our rectums

Five years removed from "the conservative case for wiping your ass with your hand lol"

Why do we continue to trust these people when the future they've delivered us is so much bleaker than what we have now, already bleaker than what our parents had?

I'm reading George Kennan right now, and he's talking about how the 1945 Soviets were building opera houses out in the middle of Siberia. Because they believed in their future.

Wrong? Yeah. But it feels even more alarming that our elites are warning us to brace for collapse.

Out one side of their mouths, elites are promising infinity free stuff. Out the other side of their mouths, they're telling us that our future depends on eating maggots and living in urban pods.

Something is deeply wrong here.

Normally when I continue a thread I have no idea where it's going but trust I can follow the logic through to some kind of conclusion.

But I have no idea how to end this one. Don't think our elites do, either.
