/ Good to see Congress following in the footsteps of our civil rights luminaries, with overwhelming bipartisan support of bill condemning the immoral, discriminatory boycott/BDS movement. jns.org/resolutions-en…
/ Here's a 1975 letter signed by the Black Americans to Support Israel Committee, signed by Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King, Bayard Rustin, and other civil rights heros.
/ It opens with a staunch defense if Zionism, the movement for Jewish national self-determination in Israel, from the perspective and informed by the experience of black Americans.
/ The anti-boycott letter makes clear the reality that boycotts can be, and about the anti-Israel boycott the civil rights leaders were protesting are, discriminatory and bigoted.
/ They speak for the bond between black and Jewish Americans, Israelis right to exist, and the country's human rights record (while acknowledging that no nation is without imperfections).
/ They also support Palestinian self-determination, "but not at the expense of the rights to Jews to Independence and statehood." And they forthrightly condemn the terrorism by the Palestinian leadership.
/ Here is Rosa Parks, Bayard Rustin, and Philip Randolph condemning the anti-Israel, anti-Jewish boycott.
/ Here is Dorothy Height and Coretta Scott King. There are plenty of other shining lights who signed on.
