1) One of my first memories was seeing this sign: 👈Whites Coloreds👉. My schools were segregated until I was in 6th grade. The Klan used to set up their tent right beside the church we belonged to. I remember my father, a realtor at the time, explaining to my mother how they

2) were still able to deny selling houses to blacks in white neighborhoods. The lines between the white & black neighborhoods may as well have been chiseled in stone, the differences were so stark. I hear far too many say "ancient history, times were different, why bring this up?

3) Ancient? I'm 59, maybe ancient to my 8th graders but far from a doddering old man. I grew up with racism all around me; I can certainly recognize it when it oozes out so strongly from the dark corners where most people had condemned it to. We have a president that is RACIST.

4) We have an entire political party that is actively participating & complicit in RACISM. From the concentration camps for brown people, the federal housing discrimination against POC, the blatant endorsement of scum like Katie Hopkins, & the strident racism shown to

5) 4 congresswomen of color, the 🍊🤡 & the entire GOP have shown exactly where they want to lead the country back to. I refuse to let this happen! As a teacher and a historian, I know exactly how this story turns out and I'll be damned if it will occur while I can do anything

6) at all to stop it! The time is now to stop this monstrous bigotry, racism & fascism from destroying our country. Do everything in your power to fight against this vile regime! We only have one shot at this, make it count 👊
