1/ An update on the National Review's role in Jeffrey Epstein's attempt to rehab his image:

In my haste last night, after the NYTimes story went up (which made me realize I'd gotten scooped😪) I forgot to mention the most important and still unresolved part of this sordid tale
2/ To recap: yesterday's Times article showed how Epstein's PR effort placed glowing stories bout his in sites like HuffPost, Forbes and National Review

At HuffPost & Forbes, this was possible because of a system where they'd let any contributor post

3/ The backstory's VERY DIFFERENT at the National Review

What I forgot to mention yest, & the Times didn't pick up on in their story, was that the author, Christina Galbraith, wasn't just an Epstein flack

Her father, Evan Galbraith, was William F. Buckley's lifelong best friend
4/ Three years prior to placing her Epstein puff-piece in @NRO, Ms. Galbraith published a eulogy of sorts to Mr. Buckley, on the occasion of his passing in 2008

Those were the only two pieces she wrote for NRO

@NRO 5/ My point, which I tried to make last night but my brain was fried, is that Lowry's insinuation that NRO mistakenly & absentmindedly published a press release, is bull

Ms. Galbraith was very much an insider at NRO; a member of the larger NRO family
