Among other issues, this tweet and its implication fails to contend with a rather fundamental problem: presidents don't appropriate the money, Congresses do.
The federal deficit is quite a bit more complicated than a facile tweet implying GOP, bad; Dems good.

But, allowing for the fact that this is twitter, sure. Go nuts.
The GOP absolutely has frequently failed the challenge of its convictions when it comes to spending. That's a problem, but not one I think Sahil is actually interested in examining.

I read the Gabbard campaign's complaint against Google. It has standing problems, constitutional problems, state law problems, and a CDA § 230 problem.

First, the Gabbard campaign says Google Ads is a state-created public forum and therefore subject to the constraints of the First Amendment.

The campaign also says Google is subject to free speech and association rights protected by the California constitution.

Doozy out of the 4th Cir. on qualified immunity. Reverses district court summary grant of QI on false arrest, excessive force, and malicious prosecution claims bc the facts are clearly in dispute.

Also sends a nastygram in footnote to the district court about expert testimony.

Also addresses a police officer's practice of seizing video of his own alleged misconduct on the pretext that it is evidence of crime. ca4.uscourts.gov/opinions/18184…
The facts here are really egregious. Police officer is threatening to shoot a woman's dog on her property. orders her to restrain the dog. So she moves to do it, but the officer decides to body slam her and arrest her.

6th Cir. holds that the Tennessee General Assembly did not have standing to sue the federal government for allegedly violating the spending clause and the Tenth Amendment by resettling refugees in the state and thereby costing Tennessee Medicare funds. opn.ca6.uscourts.gov/opinions.pdf/1…
Court notes that the General Assembly did not allege an injury in fact to itself (e.g., disruption to legislative process, usurpation of authority, etc.) nor had it established it was authorized to sue on behalf of the State of Tennessee (which is assigned by statute to the AG).
Here, the legislature had passed a bill saying that either the GA or the Senate could sue if the AG did not, but the governor never signed the bill.

1/ Trump’s supporters know he is a law breaker.

Many voted for him BECAUSE he is a law breaker.

The problem isn't a lawbreaker in the White House.

The problem is that a major political party supports him and 42% of the population approves of him👇 projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval…
2/ If a clear majority of the population and the leaders of both parties were appalled by Trump, removing him and stopping the lawbreaking would be easy.

I think it helps to understand why Trump has 42% approval rating despite everything that we know about him.

1️⃣ Bernie is wrong: the Boston Bomber should not be allowed to vote from prison. Murdering someone ends that victim's right to vote, and there's nothing morally or ethically wrong with saying a perpetrator shouldn't get to enjoy that right he's taken from another

2/
2️⃣ Bernie is wrong: it's not a "slippery slope" to hold that view. The "slippery slope" is a logical fallacy. But we're a body politic, unbound from any obligation to inexorably follow any logical chain to any particular point. All of policy is made on a "slippery slope."

I've decided to share my slide deck detailing my ... concerns about the F measure. tl;dr: just don't.
First, some definitions of precision, recall, and F. F is a harmonic mean of P and R. Harmonic means are appropriate for averaging ratios, which is van Rijsbergen's original motivation for recommending F. F is for sets, not ranked lists.

I'm a few pages into the IG report and I just can't get over the thought that there's no reason there ever should've been an investigation into Hillary's e-mails in the first place. The FBI was just trying to satisfy the Republicans.
"....we did not have confidence that Strzok’s decision to prioritize the Russia investigation over following up on the Midyear-related investigative lead... was free from bias." One was a thing, the other was not a thing. He picked the thing over the not thing. That's not bias.
