Nadler starts the hearing by pointing out Mueller’s long history of integrity. Now he’s quoting directly from Mueller’s report on obstruction of justice.

Nadler:

“Any other person who acted in this way would be charged with crimes.”

Mueller is looking at Collins like he’s something disgusting on the bottom of his shoe.

Mueller just told Republicans he wasn’t saying anything about the opening of the investigation, or the Steele dossier because DOJ won’t let him.

Sorry about your fishing expedition, Collins.

Nadler: the President has repeatedly claimed that your report found no obstruction, and that it completely exonerated him, but that’s not what your report said, correct?

Mueller: correct, that’s not what the report said

Mueller just confirmed that he didn’t charge POTUS with obstruction of justice because of the OLC opinion that a sitting President cannot be charged.

This is a bizarre line of questioning from Ratcliffe.

He just answered his own question. Mueller was instructed to provide a prosecution and *declination* summary.

He’s yelling about Mueller including something in his report that was mandated by his charging orders.

To be fair, Ratcliffe is under consideration to replace Coats, so this was a job interview.

Sensenbrenner is very irritated that Mueller wrote volume 2 even though he knew he couldn’t indict Trump.

Probably because it’s so bad for the President.

Screaming at Mueller is a bit ridiculous.

I like the way the Democrats are handling this so far. They know Mueller is going to tell them it’s in the report, so they’re using their time to actually read the report to the American people.

Rep Buck: "Could you charge the president with a crime after he left office?"

Mueller: "Yes."

Buck: "You believe that you could charge the president of the United States with obstruction of justice after he left office?"

Mueller: "Yes."

The Republicans are *seriously* on national television defending the Russians who interfered in our elections. This is pathetic.

Rep. McClintlock knows damn well Mueller can’t tell him anything publicly about the Russian troll farm and how they know what they know.

Attacking the unanimous conclusions of the IC to defend the President is a pretty impressive new low.
