While we're on the subject, I want to share one of the most helpful things a therapist has ever said to me:
I told her I felt like I was terrible and a bad person and had no good qualities.
She said, does everyone else feel that way?
I said, no they don't understand

She said "Oh, okay. So if you're the worst person in the world and have no good qualities, how can you be smarter than everyone else in your life and managed to figure out the truth about yourself when nobody else did?"
"Isn't it possible that maybe, if everyone else thinks one thing, and you think the other, that you're actually the one who's wrong? Wouldn't you apply that logic to literally anything else?"
