Reminder that sweeping nationwide gun control legislation is the compromise position, which we should consider if the gun-defender side is willing to accept it.

If they aren’t, we should vigorously pursue a total nationwide ban of manufacture and sale of guns.

Reminder that a ban targeting the manufacturer and sale of guns doesn’t criminalize private gun ownership of existing guns, which will disappoint those gun people who very obviously fantasize about shootouts with government agents come to take their guns.

I may be nuts but I think if we made the manufacture, sale, or import of guns illegal nationwide it would have an impact on the gun industry.

The problem is the gun industry. Kill it.

Make selling a gun illegal.

Then an aggressive buyback program to start to address existing guns.

Sweeping national police reform including demilitarization and independent review of ties to white nationalist orgs, is the compromise position

Otherwise, we should pursue a program that fires all LEOs and lets them reapply to an independent review agency

Please realize that what I am talking about is not a call to focus on “what’s realistic,” but a refocus on what we should be advocating, so we can re-create what “realistic” is.

Right now conservatives won’t compromise.

So let them know what the uncompromised result looks like.

If conservatives don’t want to compromise on things like sweeping national police reform and gun reform, OK.

Let’s spend our energy pursuing a complete replacement of all law-enforcement officers and a complete ban on guns.

If the uncompromised positions I’m laying out seem extreme, well, uncompromised positions are extreme

But if we make the compromise position our starting point, we’re not going to get even that

And if opponents won’t compromise, make them feel the consequence of intransigence
