Despite the nature of the tragedy, the injustice of it, one can always hope that his or her memory will be a blessing in some way.

IDC what the haters say about incidents such as this. No one can stop them happening. You can reduce the risk and you must, if you are responsible for the safety of others. But so many people refuse to do what is needed. Such as allowing good people to save a life with their gun.
That's necessary but not sufficient IMO. You also must train regularly for incidents, and construct your building or other environment, and design your operations, to reduce and mitigate risk.

To put the politics aside and be humane toward the survivors and the victims, no matter who they are or why evil people targeted them.
Especially when they are targeted for race or religion.

It's simple, really. Treat others how you would like to be treated.
Most of the other shootings I mentioned were race/religion motivated.
