I know people are struggling with alleged ‘2 narratives’ emanating from Kashmir.I don’t worry about those who suddenly think Kashmir is Shanghai and does not need development or equal laws.But genuine people who are concerned must know Kashmir is a very difficult story to report
The Calm is uneasy, but it is calm generally. People are more upset about communication blockade than abrogation of Article 370 because former frustrates them, latter they don’t know how to process yet.
People are reporting about sense of ‘betrayal’ felt by many Muslims of Kashmir. It is not difficult to understand why. For 70 years they have been told that, Article 370 protected them from evil designs of India. While this was being fed to them 370 was being nibbled at.
People who were nibbling at 370 were ironically telling people of Kashmir that without 370 there will be apocalypse. Now one day 370 goes away, qayamat hasn’t struck but the fear remains. That fear will find a way to vent. And the fear will be used by Pakistanis and terrorists.
But this was expected and I am sure Govt of India is ready for it. I am already seeing positive messages being sent through music, through entertainment media and through prominent personalities and positive messaging. However, valley will erupt sooner or later
My sense is that as long as terrorists are eliminated, separatists kept under control,local protests will wither away soon. As far as so called mainstream politicians are concerned, they will find a way to reinvent themselves or will perish. I wouldn’t waste a minute on them
