I think this and remote work are the best bull case for WeWork.

In 2025, every Fortune 500 company will have 10k+ remote workers, and every purchasing department will approve a reimbursement for WeWork with no questions asked.
The reason business hotels work is they convince employees booking travel and purchasing departments funding it that “You probably have a lot of questions but it’s a Holiday Inn; anything else?”
Serviced offices have existed, and commercial real estate obviously exists, but “worldwide brand in knowledge worker office” seems pretty novel to me.
(I also think if you’re a startup with less than, oh, 25 employees and you’re thinking leasing an office rather than doing WeWork you probably are misallocating managerial bandwidth to end up with a worse product.)

Somebody could do brisk business by bizdeving up all the standard consumer Internet companies to allow them to do a managed IT service for VIPs.

“Look, Apple, you really want Justin Bieber’s business but you never want anyone talking about his account to your CS reps.”

Our proposal: flag your VIPs as Never Touch Ever. Give us a bat phone to your most trusted internal group. We will not call it more than X times per year.”

I spent several hours for work installing all of the new Japanese payment apps, and my impression is that it the next generation of Japanese-speaking UX specialists will create billions of dollars of enterprise value if listened to.
To be fair, the apps are a lot better than they would have been 5 to 10 years ago, but core onboarding flows had a lot of “oh no you’re kidding me” moments (and not just around playing my favorite game “Figure out which version of my name the app will actually accept.”)
Favorite feature I’ve seen so far: PayPay lets you “skin” the core screen of the wallet, which you’ll be showing clerks at e.g. convenience stores and possibly have friends fee, so you can pick a background that speaks to you (from approved choices).

Founding a funded startup which doesn’t work out largely does not and should not irreversibly damage the founders’ finances.

We should stop implying this is routine and stop valorizing courses of action which increase likelihood of it happening, like not taking salary.
There exists a culture of “burn all your ships” bravado which does not do us favors. Many who “burn ships” have a high-quality backup plan; the perceived necessity of “burning ships” chases away people who do not.
“What happens if your startup goes bankrupt?”

It sucks. Royally. But you do not do not do not backstop its debts with your own money. You spend the last (paid!) month or so of your employment making sure your employees land as best as you can and directing advisors to wind down.

I was up till 1 AM because someone assembled a video montage including a death threat against me and several others, and just got woken up at 6 AM by one of the numbers I have configured to always alert me no matter what, warning about an 8chan manifesto going live.
8chan is aggressively removing all trace of the manifesto so I guess we’ll wait and see if it was acted on. I don’t know any details.
Alert fatigue is real as shit and I think maybe I’ll work from home today.

Remote work is here to stay.
It’s unimaginable to many folks that companies can be 100% remote and be as productive as companies who are 100% in-person.

What’s inevitable is that the 100% in-person companies are going to become less than 100% in-person.

I’m most curious about what happens at that point.
What will need to change in order for companies to manage a hybrid workforce?

How will company culture evolve as employees request more work from home and remote work opportunities?

How will companies deal with the flexible work schedules that remote work comes with?

Schwere Herzkrankheit des Verstorbenen seit Geburt, mehrere Herzoperationen danach, versagensbereites Herz durch das es jederzeit zu einem Herzinfarkt kommen konnte.

Ob jemand strafrechtlich verantwortlich ist für den Herzinfarkt, ist im Ermittlungsverfahren.
