CONFIRMED: The man who drove his car over a crowd of #JewsAgainstICE and allies is Thomas Woodworth, a Captain at a for-profit ICE facility.

The safety of every person behind bars at the Wyatt Detention Center is in the hands of people like this. Our neighbors need to be freed!

Sadly Captain Woodworth did fracture one person’s leg with his truck, and that person’s being examined for possible broken back & internal injuries😰

BREAKING: Captain Thomas Woodworth of the Wyatt Detention Center has resigned, after running over #JewsAgainstICE and allies with his truck outside the ICE facility.

This is a first step, but there is only one way to fix Wyatt: shut it down, and release our immigrant neighbors!
We were at the Wyatt Detention Center in the first place because the warden won't allow any community groups to communicate with the immigrants held inside to make sure they are ok. We asked for a meeting; instead they ran us over and pepper sprayed us.

What this piece leaves out: we follow in the footsteps of decades of resistance by immigrant communities, in the face of harsh repression. For example, even our primary tactic of using non-violent direct action to shut down ICE facilities was pioneered in 2010 by #Not1More.
And we are far from the only historically or currently persecuted group sounding the alarm and taking action! Just take a look at the coalition of Latinx, Japanese-American, Black, Indigenous, & Jewish groups who stopped the re-opening of the Japanese internment camp at Ft. Sill

Lou Dobbs just justified and promoted the car ramming that that caused one of our peaceful protestors to have serious injuries.

This was an attack that could have (and has, as in Charlottesville) killed someone. Fox News is inciting violence.
Note the propaganda of this approach. They must distort reality to justify their inhumanity. There is no other way.

Note to the @BostonGlobe: as we have told you, it is not accurate to say that we “narrowly avoided being hurt” and that people were “nearly hit”; 5 people went to the hospital, including 2 who were hit by the truck. Please correct your headline.

The press needs to stop being afraid to name reality. It’s dangerous.

the man who drove his car into a crowd of people on august 12, 2017 will be sentenced in federal court this morning. his attorney filed a motion last week asking for mercy on the grounds that his young age makes life imprisonment “cruel and unusual punishment.”

by now you’ve already seen the news. fields was sentenced to life on all 29 counts, with the sentence for heather heyer’s murder to be served first, followed by 28 concurrent life sentences for the other counts. the sentences will be served concurrently with his state sentence.
