Finally caught up on Cloak and Dagger last night. Very sad that they had a giant shout out to Luke Cage, now that Netflix's Marvel shows are no more.
I mean, I'm not sad that it happened. It was a cool moment, and I felt like it informed what Ty went and did afterwards, but it was like... ohhhhhhhhhh.
I also appreciate how committed they are to never giving Tandy the weird cut out navel-plunging neckline even when it's putting the pair in obviously comic-inspired outfits.

Ben Shapiro's infamous "If climate change is real, people who live on the coast will just sell their houses." gaffe is an example of what I mean when I talk about people operating on the level of an RPG economy.
In a lot of video games where you can buy and sell things -- most of them -- transactions are only really simulated from one side. Nothing happens to the money you spend, it's just deducted from your total and gone. Nothing happens to the things you sell, they're just gone.
And it doesn't matter if there is or could be a market for something; if it has a value, that value is constant, and you can sell it. Possibly to anyone, anywhere, who buys and sells.

So the thing about the Amazon FC Ambassador program is, a company that size, they probably can find enough people who work in the fulfillment centers and have genuinely good experiences (or good feelings about their experiences) to run them... but that doesn't erase the bad.
I saw one of them saying that the program exists "so you will hear the good as well as the bad" but one employee having a good time working for Amazon doesn't do anything for the employees who aren't.
"Some people can cope with the conditions so they can't be bad!" is basically saying "If one person can cope, anybody can cope" and it's like... that is such a blamey attitude.

There's some stuff like furniture and desktop computers that I don't buy that often but the last few times I went to a store looking for it... at stores *dedicated* to these things... and what I found, or didn't find, made no sense.

It's tis.
Supposedly raising wages is going to drive up the cost of doing business is going to put everybody out of business is going to cost everybody their jobs...

But stagnant wages at below-subsistence levels is rotting businesses from the inside out anyway.

Business needs customers.
Employers don't create jobs, customers create jobs. Employers -- ideally -- create customers, by PAYING people. Henry Ford wasn't a saint, he was a robber baron like the rest of them. But he was a smart one. He overpaid his employees, and got rich doing it.

Now I'm all caught up with the results from last night's contest, with the UK placing last, I'm going to wheel out the same musical analysis I do almost every year to offer up one possible explanation as to why the UK consistently does so poorly at Eurovision these days...
Since 2000, the majority of Eurovision winners have been written in a minor key. Not only have minor keys won 15 of the last 20 contests (major keys have only won five), major keys have placed rock bottom nearly twice as often as minor ones.
What happened last night?
– The song that won (The Netherlands; Arcade) = A minor
– The song that came dead last (UK; Bigger Than Us) = C Major

What follows is a small thread on the response of 131 CAs to 108 economists on the quality of India's economic data.
One point being made is what do CAs know about the GDP. I find that argument silly. People do have knowledge across subjects and we should always have an open mind on points which are cogently and lucidly made.
Also, the last that I checked India was still a democracy, and people have the right to react to things. So 131 CAs can respond to 108 economists, as can 151 MBAs or a million Chowkidars. Everyone has the right.

Finally caught up on DOCTOR WHO. The second half of Whittaker's first season is much stronger than the first half. I like her Doctor, but still don't feel that I have a strong sense of who this Doctor is yet. In that respect she's sort of like the early Peter Davison.
There are two aspects of Whittaker's Doctor that really stand out: "curious, cheerful tinkerer" and "lead kid in the gang." She's much more one of the gang than other Doctors have been with companions, and this approach is charming and works quite well for her.
The companions are pretty good, have jelled well into roles:
Graham = comedy of manners; the rock; foundation for a lot of emotional stuff
Ryan = comedy of silliness; hearer of exposition (ie, the guy people explain things to)
Yaz = the Doctor's sounding-board for problem-solving

Last night was a great reminder of what’s possible when we come together and fight for what we believe in. So I wanted to take a few minutes to celebrate the extraordinary successes of a few groups I—and Onward Together—proudly fight alongside.
Congratulations to @RunforSomething founders @amandalitman + @RossMoRock for a huge night! 25 of the local candidates they helped to recruit and run won.
They tell me about 10% of first-time candidates usually win, but 40% of @runforsomething candidates came out on top yesterday.
