Having mentioned Hieronymous Bosch earlier, if you just stick to admiring his paintings, you're missing out on a lot of the really surreal, metaphysical *weird shit*.

This late 15th century drawing is called 'The Woods That Hear, And The Field That Sees'.
I've seen this image used by respectable art critics to suggest - in all seriousness - that our boy Hieronymous enjoyed nipping out of town to chow down on hallucinogenic mushrooms.
I gotta say, there is *no evidence* he tripped his balls off, or was a secret Cathar.

I mean, I want to believe, but...

The trial of the 'Pendle Witches' began on this day in 1612, at the Lancaster Assizes. It was one of the most significant cases of witch persecution in British history. /1
The years following the ascent of James I to the English throne were an unsettled time in some ways.

Fear of Catholic recusants was high, especially in the north.

Additionally, the new king was fascinated - some say obsessed with witchcraft. He even wrote a book about it. /2
Much of the area surrounding Pendle Hill, in the modern county of Lancashire, was devoted to sheep farming, often by local gentry or their representatives.

Some who had previously farmed the land had been reduced to poverty and scratching out a living by a variety of means. /3

With such a high-profile journalist as @OwenJones84 being subject to a premeditated attack, it's worth remembering that journalists were among the very first targets of fascists - some murdered in direct retribution for their criticism. /1
On the 23rd of June, 1920, the mutilated body of Bernhard Schottländer was found outside the city of Breslau.

After the war, Schottländer had become the editor of an SPD newspaper.

During the 'Kapp Putsch' he was rounded up by a Freikorp unit & tortured before being killed. /2
On 10th of March, 1925, Austrian Hugo Bettauer, successful journalist & novelist, was shot repeatedly by a Nazi sympathiser.

One of Bettauer's popular works, 'The City Without Jews' described a fictional deportation of Jews from Vienna years before it was horrific reality. /3

Most universities, regardless of countries, usually have something like this. Either OneDrive, Box, Google Drive, confirm universities will provide at least one of these for students.

So make sure you utilize all of these when you’re a student!
Other things that students tend to take for granted:

1) Counselling services.

Universities usually offer free (or cheap) counselling services for students. Make use of them. Talk to someone if you're having issues. They can usually help you if you ask for it.
2) Disability services.

Have trouble to keep up with studying?
Have some learning difficulties?
Have physical / mental disability?

TALK TO SOMEONE. They can help plan something that works for you, such as:

(a) longer time for exams
(b) note-taker
(c) colored overlays

People feel trepidation or like they're yoloing like a cowboy when they hear "testing in production". It gets peoples' attention. But it has a bad rap. #VelocityConf
The reality is that we all do it all the time. Responsible engineers test in prod, irresponsible engineers don't.

It's actually a false dichotomy; it's not a binary. You can test in production *and* before you reach production. #VelocityConf

Something that took me a while to understand about Facebook Ads when I was starting out was having an open mind. I used to assume so many things instead of just testing them. Do not write off an idea just because it's simple or unconventional, TEST EVERYTHING!
Day 2 - 1/29

If you are ever looking to refresh creatives but don't have the ability to take new pictures or shoot a new video, try using Facebook's video templates. It allows you to use your images and create a video with them. I've seen a lot of good results from doing this.
